Founded in 2016, BeYOUtiful Brown Girl is an unapologetic movement and lifestyle brand dedicated to supporting Black and Brown girls and young women to embrace the skin they’re in and celebrate what makes them uniquely beautiful. We offer personal development services, such as workshops, training, convenings, and retail products that reflect cultural representation, reinforce positive affirmations, build a positive sense of self, and promote self-love.
When Black & Brown girls and young women can proudly embrace who they truly are, they can define their future and change the world!
Our Purpose
BeYOUtiful Brown Girl deeply understands the importance of empowering Black and Brown girls and young women, and the need for cultural representation in mainstream culture.
As a social purpose venture, BeYOUtiful Brown Girl is dedicated to supporting the empowerment of Black and Brown girls and young women, and counteracting the misrepresentation of girls and young women of color in the mainstream by disrupting the narrative with our intentional personal transformational services and culturally specific affirming product line.
We proudly amplify the message to all brown skin girls to be unapologetically themselves - Brilliant. Bold. Beautifully Brown.
Our Story
In 2016, our founder, Fatima, created BeYOUtiful Brown Girl for her youngest daughter to address the lack of cultural and gender-specific programming in their community.
At that time, Fatima’s daughter went to a predominantly white school, where seeing leaders of color was rare. Fatima knew that her daughter’s overall social and emotional development was not being cultivated at school and would not.
As a Black mother (AfroMexicana), it was important for Fatima to seek out-of-school time activities for her daughters that supported and reinforced the cultural pride she had instilled in them. When Fatima consistently found little to no positive outlets in her area explicitly designed to help foster the racial and cultural identity and leadership abilities of Black and Brown girls, she created a solution with BeYOUtiful Brown Girl.
What started as a community social initiative that offered social, cultural, and service-learning workshops and activities has now transitioned into something greater. BeYOUtiful Brown Girl is a social purpose venture, igniting the spark in both girls and young women of all shades of brown to love the skin they're in, dream BIG, and unapologetically be the best version of themselves.
Our Founder
A passionate change agent and visionary, our founder, Fatima, developed BeYOUtiful Brown Girl to be a space and opportunity for girls of all shades of brown to learn, discover, grow - and just BE.
Fatima has over two decades of cross-sector professional experience in education, youth development, human services, and community and workforce development. She is a high-skilled trainer and facilitator, and as a Positive Youth Development subject-matter expert, a trained Life Coach, and a mother of two, Fatima has successfully guided and supported the empowerment of hundreds of girls and young women.

A percentage of all proceeds from our sales support the services BeYOUtiful Brown Girl offers to girls and young women from historically marginalized communities.
